Move Well acknowledges that we are currently on the unceded lands of the Grabrieleno Tongva and Gabrieleno Kizh People.
We honor the ancestors of the village of Yaanga, now called Los Angeles and we honor their living descendants, the people of Tovaangar. The Tongva people are still here today and are thriving. We honor them past, present and future as there have been many generations surviving settler colonization, land seizure, disease, subjugation, slavery, relocation, broken promises, genocide, and multigenerational trauma. Their resilience lives, they are the stewards of the land and they are a part of our vibrant community. We are grateful for their teachings of respecting the lands, waters, elements, animals and all life. We are grateful for the knowledge keepers and Elders who’ve passed down many teachings. We are taught reciprocity by mother earth, but these communities are the ones that hold the heart of the land in their hands. To know them, is to know the land. No matter where you go, honor the first people of the land you are on because they have been here and will always be here. May we continue to build relations with each other in good ways by being a good relative while keeping in mind that reciprocity.
Move Well donates 5% of every booking to the Tongva people. Even though Move Well is located on Tongva Lands, if we work outside of the LA area, those 5% bookings will go to the people of the lands we are with. Do your part in educating yourself on the lands you are with. Build relations, give reparations and support the first people of the lands you are with.
